My Bio

I was born sometime in the first half of 2010. I am a brown pitbull, a little on the trim and fit side, but in a healthy weight for my frame. I have big muscles!

Nothing is known about my first year except that I was bred and had a litter of puppies. Nobody knows what happened to the puppies, who bred me, where I lived exactly, or how I was treated. I am potty trained, friendly, and very good with people. New experiences make me nervous and sometimes I bark at people when I am scared, but Mom says with patience and time I should get over that and am already starting to.

I live on 5 acres in the mountains of British Columbia. I have 3 dogs, 1 cat, 1 human, and a very special diet of raw, cooked and holistically prepared food.

I am a grateful dog. I try my best to behave and get along with everyone and Mom knows that's going to take some time. She is very kind to me, but won't let me get away with some of the stunts I try to pull. Currently we are working on my constant jumping up!

My favorite passtimes so far are curling up on the sofa next to Mom, trying to get the other dogs to play with me (so far no one is caving but I think I will wear them down) and squeeky toys. I like running on the trails and will be trying out the beach later this week.

Thank you for being here.

Truffle's Health

Somehow my health is very good. Considering all I've been through, Mom would have expected it to be much poorer.

I am about 1 1/2 years old, female, spayed and weigh 45 lbs. I am thin, but at a good weight and physique for my age, and expect to fill out another 5 lbs or so as I finish maturing.

It is pretty clear I've had a litter of puppies by the size and shape of my mammaries. Nothing else is known about that, it was from my far past and I was likely bred on my first heat cycle prior to the age of 1. Even in the shadiest of breeding situations, that should never be done. A female younger than 18 months is not a good candidate for breeding either physically or mentally :(

I am looking forward to a lifetime of nutritious food and lots of exercise, obedience training and new experiences. Mom says she takes the Tollers everywhere, and I can come too!

Where do I come from?

This answer will be expanded on in future, but essentially the New York City Animal Care and Control.

I entered the system on April 2, 2011. Lots of people were interested in getting me out but nobody came for me in the end. I was on the To Be Destroyed list TWICE and managed to avoid the needle both times. Finally Mom got involved and they were able to get me out, put me in hiding and sent me out to Washington State on an airplane with my friend Raine.

The border control dude in Canada was so nice, he was asking my mom advice for his dog since she is a Pro Trainer ♥

My name is Truffle

My name Truffle was a "code name" for my rescue in the beginning, because I look like the color of a dusted chocolate truffle. They were thinking of all SORTS of different names for me, and then when Mom laid eyes on my beautiful self she just thought it fit, so it stuck. I began answering to it right away, because I liked the way she said it, with love and often lots of snuggles.
